About Squiggly Adventures

Squiggly Adventures is the brainchild of Rob Slater. After many years of freelancing and working outdoors, Rob decided to take the step and make the dream of Squiggly Adventures a reality.

Why Squiggly Adventures?

It is a question the team is asked frequently: rivers are not straight, and neither is the journey through life. The Squirrel in the logo has a story that Rob will tell you on one of our courses.

Rob’s Paddling Journey

Rob began paddling in 2006/2007 and fell in love with the sport almost immediately whether surfing, practicing slalom, or trying playboating in the early days at Adur Canoe Club. From there, he completed a college course in Outdoor Adventure at Plumpton College before beginning his career in the outdoor industry.
He later returned to Plumpton before moving on to Bangor University to pursue a degree in Sports Science, followed by a postgraduate qualification in Performance Psychology. Throughout his academic journey, Rob continued working outdoors and paddling across the UK, gaining extensive experience on everything from Grade 4 whitewater to sea kayaking trips around Anglesey. Most recently, he has taken up stand-up paddleboard (SUP) distance racing, achieving impressive results and taking home a trophy in only his second race.
Rob is currently training for distance events and challenges, If this is something that interests you then drop us an email.
While Rob is the primary face of the business, Squiggly Adventures occasionally
collaborates with guest coaches and freelancers to expand the team when needed.
